Below is our beloved Topsy, this article is dedicated to her, since she is so smart. I believe it was a while back, I was missing my license and credit cards.
I looked everywhere for them, and was on the verge of calling to cancel the cards, when Topsy was hanging around the couch. It turns out, they were under the couch exactly around where she was.
Did she know I was looking for those cards? It makes me wonder how smart these cats really are? Experts say cats have 300 million neurons in their brain compared to a dog, which has 160 million, and a human, which has 86 billion.
So cat owners are always saying their pets are smarter than dogs, I guess it is true. Even though a human brain is much more advanced than a cats, in that moment Topsy proved otherwise.
So why are cats so smart? Well they are mysterious creatures by nature, making us humans always think about, what our cat is thinking 🤔 According to experts their brains are structure in a way similar to other intelligent mammals like humans for example.
So a cat has 300 million neurons in their cerebral cortex. This is the area of the brain that involves planning of action, interpreting language, and storing both short and long term memories.
Researches say these brain characteristics help cats solve problems and adopt to new environments. They have the ability to acquire new behaviors, apply knowledge to new situations, and communicate needs and desires effectively.
Cats have a unique brain to say the least. It allows them to think about things in an entirely different way than most other animals. There ability to learn is at a whole other level too.
It all goes back to their neurons, and how many they have compared to other animals. They us this added intelligence to survive and hunt more efficiently.
Ever wonder why your cat can get your attention so easily. Well they can recognize a human face better than a dog, and use that ability to gain our attention.
Just this morning, and in fact most morning our other cat Vernon knows exactly what to do to get me out of bed. Why would he do that, well he knows I'll feed him.
It doesn't stop at the brain, cats have other features that help their intelligence. Thanks to their whiskers they are able to navigate perfectly at night by feeling vibrations in the air.
