You all heard of when the shoe fits, well in this post I will be talking about, when the text fits. What does that mean, putting the right words to a video. In my previous post, I spoke to how important the right sound was. Sound was a huge factor in the popularity of my highest viewed video, which happened to be on Instagram.
The right text played a big part in the popularity of my highest viewed video on YouTube. The funny thing about it was, the words just came out. The video, which you can see below, was something I found on the Net.
The original had no music, and just people giggling. I thought I could make it better. Actually it was compilation of a bunch of cat videos. I thought I could really make some magic from the first video. Over 8200 views and 321 likes later, it sits at the top of all 40 of my YouTube shorts, and 2nd overall. Only the bike fail video on my Instagram has slightly more views and likes.
Now I have created around 80 plus videos in my journey, and I didn't expect this cat video to be right up there. In fact, it didn't spike right away, I thought it was a dud, until I received a comment. I am still relatively new at being a YouTuber, but I am quickly learning that comments equal lots a views. Every time I get a comment, it usually means, I have at least 1000 views. In this case it was 8000, they all came at the same time.
So why was this video popular, it is only a cat trying to jump on the fridge. Well the poor cat missed, and fell to the round. Kinda like when we set high expectations, but reality hits. That was the text I used.
I hold hardily believe the text played a big part in the popularity along with its timing. One of the features YouTube has that Instagram doesn't or at least I haven'y figured out yet, is timing the text.
The video starts with "When you set high expectations," "but reality hits," only appears as the cat is falling. The music I picked also was timed by the fall, and that is important to note too. This isn't the only jumping/falling cat video I have. The video below also had the music timed well, but the text wasn't as good, and I still got over 1500 views, but only 27 likes.
So I hope this post finds you well, and shows you the importance of not only picking the right music/sound and timing it right. Text can also add tremendous value to a video. Not to mention its timing too.
