I wasn't sure, what my next blog post was going to be about until now. If you have been reading along, I recently lost my boy cat Philly a few weeks ago, and decided to focus my content on fun cat videos only.
Both my cats had been my inspiration for creating these pages and channels, and right before he passed I had been debating whether to focus my efforts on just cats. After he passed I wanted to do right by him, and dedicating my YouTube and Instagram just seemed right. Philly was such a fun cat, really one of a kind.
Well since the shift, I have 5 new videos on Instagram, and 4 new videos on YouTube. However that isn't the reason for this post, well at least not entirely. I just posted on Instagram, and it is now my highest viewed video from either platform.
The above video has over 9800 views surpassing the bike video (previously number 1) by almost 1000. The funny thing about it was I had no expectations at all for this video. It is 3 seconds long, so adding a sound would be difficult. Also since it is so short, putting too much writing on the screen wouldn't make any sense.
So this is the first time I ever posted a video with no sound. I also only had a quick "oh no not again," with a cat laughing face. No call to action to like or follow, as I normally do. With all that said I still got 287 likes, 1 comment, and 1 new follower.
Now you may say, 1 comment, 1 follower big deal. Well if you have been reading along my other posts, especially on Instagram, I have had difficulty getting followers. I currently have only 34, and that is with all my videos asking people to follow me.
My girl thinks all the calls to action to like follow, and subscribe might be too click baitty. What do you all think? Leave a comment below, should i continue with my calls to action, or should I just publish the content without it?
In this example the lack of call to action didn't keep people from liking the video. When posting content the key is to test things out, maybe I'll keep testing this out, if the results continue to be good, then I know i have something here.
