So I all started this (my short video channel/page), because reels in general interested me. I would scroll down Facebook, and every time I would stop by the Reel they were promoting and click on it.
By clicking the Reel, I ended watching and liking several in that one viewing. I was amazed by the views, likes, and followers some of these reels were fetching. My first attempt at reels was on Facebook. I basically found a GIF added music to it, and got nearly 1000 views.
From there, my cats were my focus. I took an old video of one of my cats begging for food, and first posted it on Facebook. It got over 600 views, and from there a light switch went on in my brain.
Found out reels originated from Instagram as many of the reels I was watching on Facebook generally came from Instagram accounts. So I thought to myself, how could I maximize my views.
I started a new public Instagram account, and because it was public I didn't want to use my actual face. The #turnup Bitmoji I used in posts in the past, and because I was thinking of making funny videos thought that would be a great profile pick.
The grey cabby hat is associated with my real estate business, so I wanted to have something that my friends and family would see, and know it was me. With that Reelsfun21 was born, and since I had always wanted a YouTube channel, and they call their short videos Shorts, ShortitOut came next.
Now back to my cats, the first few videos including the begging video I first posted on Facebook, were my very first videos. I had the same videos on both platforms, and I didn't t get the views I thought I would. So some videos like the begging one, got completely deleted, and recreated at a later time.
Below is the Best of my Cats:
My cats make up 20 of the 45 reels on my Instagram, and 7 of the 42 videos on YouTube. Because I started with my cats, friends would send me cat videos, some of there own cats, and others from other Creators.
All in all cats make up 30 of my 45 reels on Instagram, and 19 of the 42 videos on YouTube. I have often thought about narrowing my niche to just cat videos, but some of my highest viewed videos are not of cats.
In fact if you have read my previous posts, you know my all-time highest viewed and liked video is not of cats. So should I continue posting generally fun videos, or should I narrow it down to just cats?
In fact my average views for none cat videos is almost 2000 views on Instagram, and YouTube just over 1000. So with all this said, what do you all think, should I continue on or, narrow my niche to just cats? Leave a comment below, and let me know.
